TITLE: RYSBRACK'S DOCUMENTED WORK AT STOURHEAD - A REFRESHER COURSE.
ABSTRACT: A chronology of Rysbrack’s documented work purchased and commissioned by Henry Hoare II (1705-85) for the house and garden with some observations on the sculptor’s pictorial sources.
BIOGRAPHY: Dudley Dodd worked in the Historic Buildings Department of the National Trust from 1974 to 2000. In addition to writing guide books for houses in the South-West he has contributed regularly to scholarly publications. In 2014 he co-authored with Simon Swynfen Jervis Roman Splendour, English Arcadia: The English taste for Pietre Dure and the Sixtus Cabinet at Stourhead, The National Trust/Philip Wilson Publishers. He continues to research the collection at Stourhead.
